As Within So Without

As Within (female)

I’ve got to admit I’ve got no idea what it means. I think it’s a pretty striking shirt though. By altering the size of the text and overlapping it in the background, you get a pretty dynamic tee considering it’s a text-only design.

As Within (male)

It’s available in both male and female versions, and I like that they’re different. Too many times the female version of a shirt is just the same print on a baby-doll cut. Hats off to Wunjo for this one. They’ve got a number of pretty cool designs, I recommend checking them out.

As Within So Without (male, female) is $20 at Wunjo.

Time Fades

Time Fades

This isn’t new this week, but it’s being reprinted and has apparently been out of stock for a while. I liked the silhouettes and the perspective that you’re behind the clock face with the people enjoying the view outside. I wasn’t really able to make out much in the way of details as far as the scenery is concerned, but I suppose that’s where your imagination is supposed to take over. It’s a pretty cool shirt however, and sort of makes you think. I like that.

Time Fades is $15 at Threadless.

How Many Licks? New at Threadless

How Many Licks

Here’s a clever design that’s new at Threadless this week. At first glance I thought this was going to be a humorous analysis of the age-old Tootsie Pop question, even though it looks more like a Gobstopper than a Tootsie Pop. It’s not like that at all though. It’s done in the style of an old science book or journal showing the layers of the earth, and I think the handwriting and little background flecks help reinforce that. The attention to detail is awesome.

I always wanted to know where my misplaced pens ended up.

How Many Licks? is $17 at Threadless.

New England Patriots 18-1 Tee

18-1

I’ve always wondered what happens to all the shirts that proclaim the losing team as the champions. I think it’d be cool, in a Dewey Defeats Truman sort of way, to have one of those shirts that says the Pats won Super Bowl 42.

You can’t always get what you want though, so this is the next best thing. This shirt would be particularly sweet if you’re a Giants fan, but a New England fan with a good sense of humor could wear it too: they DID have one hell of a season.

18-1 is $17.99 from BustedTees.

Design By Humans: Free Shipping on 4 Shirts

Design by Humans is running a promotion currently, free shipping on order of 4 shirts or more. Here are a few that caught my eye.

And Then I Just Got Tired

And Then I Just Got Tired

This shirt reminds me a little bit of the work Pushead does for all the Metallica albums and shirts and stuff. The jacket is suede and it’s a clear 5-color design. It’s pretty sweet if you ask me, and describes my mood yesterday pretty well.

And Then I Just Got Tired is $19 from Design By Humans.

Blackbirds Attackin’ in the Dead ‘O’ Night

Blackbirds

This is a pretty striking design, I love how it’s only two colors. The print goes onto the collar and hemming, keeping it from looking like a ringer. It’s like the Beatles meeting Alfred Hitchcock. I can’t talk about this shirt without making the obvious AH allusion anyways. The female model DBH used in their newsletter looked better in this shirt than the dude you see above, of course.

Blackbirds Attackin’ in the Dead ‘O’ Night is $19 from Design by Humans.

Drink Water

Drink Water

Here’s another shirt I came across when I found Helvetica. Like that shirt, it’s much much cheaper if you buy it in Yen. I don’t really get that. Consider this a public service announcement, though. Water is good for your health, of course and you’re doing everyone a favor reminding them to drink more of it. You’re such a good citizen.

I’m sure after all that stomping around in their Helvetica shirts, the folks at Graniph probably built up quite a sweat, and everyone knows it’s important to rehydrate. They’ve got a couple water-themed shirts, but this is the only one that was more amusing than boring.

Drink water is $28 or 2,100 yen ($19.xx) from Graniph.

Love Hurts at Snorg

Love Hurts

It’s a bit late for a Valentine’s Day shirt, I know, but I came across this one and couldn’t help but be amused. Cupid apparently has traded in his bow and arrow for a more modern weapon. Complete with scope, Cupid can now propel the love bug at an astounding 2200 feet per second. Beats the hell out of the old longbow, eh?

Love Hurts is available at Snorg Tees for the sale price of $13.95.

Helvetica

Helvetica

I have a friend who’s a bit of a typography nut, and this is the kind of tee I think he’d appreciate. It sort of reminds me of those shirts I see that say “MONDAY” on them or another day of the week. It’s so obvious it’s funny. They put “Helvetica” on the back too, near the neck, like it’s a skateboard logo or something.

I came across these on Graniph. The have a few other shirts where their description mentions the “bold Helvetica typeface.” I think these guys have the hots for the font and probably wear this shirt themselves.

If you view the site in Japanese, this shirt is only 2,100 Yen, which is something like $19.62. If you view the site in English, it’s $28. Hmm. I’m sort of wondering where they ship from. Once you take the foreign currency transaction fee into account (that your credit card company will charge you) I’m wondering if it isn’t cheaper to buy in Yen.
